Leon McCawley’s recital encompasses over 125 years of music history, embracing everything from Haydn’s delightful Piano Sonata in E flat of c.1790 to Prokofiev’s C minor Sonata, written during Russia’s revolutionary year of 1917. The acclaimed British pianist, hailed by Gramophone for his ‘sensuous virtuosity, compelling charm and musical probity’, also offers works that evoke potent visual or poetic images.
