Overview

Stephen Hough’s arrangement of ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious', among the scintillating highlights of his Mary Poppins Suite, echoes the playfulness of ‘Papillons’ from Carnaval and magnifies the romance shared by the Disney classic and Robert Schumann’s great compendium of Romantic pianism. Hough, named by The Economist as one of Twenty Living Polymaths, begins by exploring the inexhaustible variety of piano miniatures before embracing Beethoven’s heroic ‘Waldstein’ Sonata.
