Overview

In its five-star review of Saint-Saëns’s Fifth Piano Concerto at the 2025 BBC Proms, The Times wrote of the ‘compelling buoyancy, delicacy and grace’ of Alexandre Kantorow’s playing. The French pianist, winner of the Gold Medal at the 2019 Moscow International Tchaikovsky Competition, journeys towards the towering heights of Beethoven’s last piano sonata by way of the dramatic gestures and prayerful intensity of Medtner’s first published sonata.
