Programme

Overview

The Fibonaccis were propelled to their position as one of Europe’s foremost string quartets as unprecedented winners of the First and Audience Prizes at the 2024 edition of Italy’s Premio Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition. They return to Wigmore Hall with ‘Intimate Letters’, inspired by Janáček’s yearning love for a much younger woman, and the last of Schumann’s three quartets, a fervent work that grew from his close study of Haydn and Mozart and reverence for Beethoven.
